February Challenge: Documents & Communication

ICE (In Case of Emergency) card

  • Version 1: print out and fill out:

Grab and Go Binder

  • Keep the following information in a 3 inch three-ring binder. You may want to use sheet protectors and tab dividers for each section.
  • Keep the binder or file in a waterproof container.
  • Look through the resources below and build your own binder with the information that your family needs. Every version I found had different things included.
  • You may want to keep a digital version away from your home, for example, a thumbdrive kept in a secure location at your office or a family member's home. Be sure to update annually.
  • I've included a few links below from blogs showing how to put together a binder.

A few emergency prep tips

- Get an extra salt canister during the next several shopping trips. Salt can be used to preserve food from the freezer.

- Store the things you would want to take with you in an evacuation situation garbage cans. Include negatives (or a thumbdrive) of pictures you would want to be able to reprint if your house was lost in an emergency situation.

- If you have limited space, get freeze dried food and store it under a bed.

- Have an emergency contact person who lives out of state. They may not be in the same situation as you are, so they can be your contact person to let others know that you are ok.
